CREF & Psychosocial Therapist

The CREF & Psychosocial Therapist training is a three-year professional training program. Upon completion of this program, the therapist is able to utilize various interventions, including the CREF method.

CREF stands for Circle Reprint Emotional Foundation. With CREF, it is possible to delve deeper into pre- and perinatal attachment and the restoration of basic trust. This is achieved primarily through body-oriented work combined with (trauma) processing techniques. Furthermore, working within systems, relationships, and/or sexuality is extensively covered.

The therapist is also able to utilize horses as support, as actors, as a mirror, or for a systemic constellation when desired. Upon successful completion of the training, the CREF & Psychosocial Therapist diploma is awarded. With this, membership in a professional association can be obtained if desired.

The course consists of:
1st year
Basic CREF & psychosocial therapeutic practice, Basic Medical Knowledge (MBK)
2nd year
In-depth therapeutic (creative) methodologies, Attachment, Relationships & Sexuality
3rd year
CREF & Psychotherapy for emotional addiction, trauma, and PTSD

Goals:
The goals of this CREF & Psychosocial Therapist professional training can be categorized under the following competencies:
  • To be able to apply MBK extensively in client guidance
  • To be able to utilize creative (play) forms in client guidance for analysis and development
  • To be able to analyze based on prenatal knowledge and to be able to deviate from the complexity steps
  • Being able to recover from diminished basic trust
  • Recognizing attachment issues and being able to address the deeper layer
  • Being able to apply processing methods/interventions for (developmental) trauma
  • Recognizing emotional addiction in attachment, relationships & sexuality
  • Being able to name and treat emotional addiction processes
The above goals are accompanied by the student's own process (you can help someone else, as far as you are yourself). Vulnerability and openness on the part of the student are of great importance.

Results:
With this CREF & Psychosocial Therapist diploma, the therapist can treat people with psychosocial needs or attachment issues. The therapist holds the CREF Method, which is specifically intended for attachment (issues), relationships, and sexuality.
The diploma obtained is accredited, after which one can proceed to join a professional association.
Study and Information
The professional training to become a CREF & Psychosocial Therapist consists of our various modules and courses, supplemented with the necessary basic knowledge (PsBK and/or MBK).

This means: there is no fixed standard track for everyone.

The route you follow depends on:
  • which courses you have already completed
  • whether you already possess a PsBK or MBK
  • your experience and background

How long does the training take?
If you still need to complete everything, the track typically consists of a build-up of approximately 3 years. Unless you take the PsBK or MBK simultaneously with the CREF modules. Do you already have a PsBK or MBK, or are you taking these simultaneously? Then you can often obtain your diploma in an accelerated timeframe of approximately 1.5 years.

Investment
The investment depends on your personal route. Because many participants have already completed components or have exemptions, we do not work with a single fixed total amount. You pay per module.

Guideline:
You take individual modules that together form your training program.

Additionally:
  • PsBK and MBK can be taken through various training providers
  • This must be done outside of IKEV.

Assessment & certification
During the training, you work with:
  • literature and reflection reports
  • practical assignments
  • interim assessments (including video assignments)
The assessment is conducted by independent examiners. You receive a certificate for each module. Upon completion of all components, you will receive the diploma: CREF & Psychosocial Therapist.

  • Within 5 years, you progress to the advanced modules
In this way, your learning process remains current and well-aligned.

Important to know
  • You can take modules at different locations
  • So you do not have to do everything at one IKEV branch
